(Ongoing series)
Fruit-themed poetry series layering original verse, typography, and hand lettering over photography. Each piece begins as a poem and becomes a visual composition, using fruit as symbol, mood, and point of departure. The project lives in the space between writing and design, where language becomes image and lettering becomes part of the atmosphere.
Challenge:
Create an ongoing series where poetry, image, and typography feel inseparable, each piece distinct in emotion and symbolism, yet unified by a shared visual and lyrical language.
Role:
Concept, poetry writing, image selection/art direction, typographic composition, hand lettering.
Process:
Poem as Foundation: Each piece starts with an original poem. The fruit serves as both subject and metaphor, shaping the emotional tone of the work: sweetness, decay, desire, memory, abundance, loss.
Image & Atmosphere: Photography is chosen to deepen the feeling of the poem rather than simply illustrate it. The image becomes a surface for language to inhabit, helping each composition feel intimate, tactile, and a little dreamlike.
Composition: Type is arranged with attention to rhythm, breath, and pause, allowing the poem to move through the image in a way that feels intentional and alive. The goal is not only readability, but resonance.
Hand Lettering: Hand-drawn lettering brings warmth, imperfection, and personality to each piece. It allows certain words or phrases to feel more embodied, as though they belong to the photograph rather than sit on top of it.
Ongoing Series: As the collection grows, each new fruit introduces its own symbolism and emotional palette, expanding the project into an evolving visual poem made of color, texture, language, and form.
